Good vehicle photos give potential buyers a clear view of the vehicle. Clear and complete photos help buyers assess the condition of the vehicle more accurately and can increase confidence and interest in your offering.
Follow the tips below to present your vehicle as effectively as possible on CarCollect.
1. Prepare the vehicle
Make sure the vehicle is ready to be photographed.
Clean the vehicle, both inside and out.
Remove personal belongings and loose items from the interior.
Park the vehicle in a tidy location with enough space around it.
Make sure the registration plate and relevant vehicle details are clearly visible where necessary.
2. Take photos from different angles
Take enough photos to give potential buyers a complete picture of the vehicle.
Include the following:
Exterior: the front, rear, both sides, and angled views from the front and rear.
Interior: the dashboard, centre console, seats and upholstery.
Mileage: a clear photo of the odometer.
Options and accessories: for example, the navigation system, alloy wheels or other special equipment.
Luggage compartment: the boot or loading area.
Engine compartment: where relevant to the vehicle.
Tailor the photos to the type of vehicle. For a motorcycle, for example, the tyres, dashboard and any luggage cases are also relevant. For a truck, the cab, loading area and any bodywork or superstructure are important features.
3. Clearly show damage and specific details
Transparency is important when selling a vehicle. Make sure you photograph all visible damage and relevant details.
Take an overview photo that clearly shows the location of the damage.
Also take a close-up photo of the damage.
Photograph damage to areas such as the bodywork, wheels, upholstery or interior.
Make sure the photos are sharp enough for the damage to be assessed properly.
Also mention relevant damage and specific details in the vehicle description. Photos do not replace a complete and accurate description.
4. Pay attention to photo quality
A few simple considerations can immediately improve your photos.
Good lighting: preferably take photos during the day in a well-lit location.
Sharp images: keep your phone or camera steady and check that the photos are in focus.
Uncluttered background: avoid making the image unnecessarily busy with other vehicles or objects.
Correct camera angle: photograph the vehicle at a natural height and avoid extreme perspectives.
Show the entire vehicle: make sure the vehicle is not unnecessarily cropped out of the frame.
Avoid filters that alter reality: the photos should provide a realistic representation of the vehicle.
5. Check the photos before uploading them
Before adding the photos to the vehicle, check that:
The photos belong to the correct vehicle.
All important sides and components have been photographed.
The photos are sharp and well-lit.
Damage and specific details are clearly visible.
There are no unnecessary or duplicate photos.
Then upload the photos to the correct vehicle in CarCollect.
Why are good vehicle photos important?
Good photos make your offering clearer and help potential buyers make an informed decision. By presenting the vehicle completely and honestly, you also reduce the likelihood of misunderstandings about its condition.
Tip: Review your photos as if you were the buyer before publishing the vehicle. Can you get a clear picture of the vehicle, its equipment and any damage based on the photos? If so, your photo report is much more complete.
