Before placing a bid on CarCollect, it is important to assess the vehicle carefully.
By checking the vehicle details, photos, description and any specific information, you can better determine whether the vehicle meets your expectations and suits your business needs.
Follow the steps below to ensure you are well prepared before placing a bid.
1. Check the vehicle details
Review the available vehicle details and check whether they match the vehicle you intend to purchase.
Pay particular attention to:
Make, model and version.
Year of manufacture and date of first registration.
Mileage.
Fuel type and transmission.
Available options and accessories.
Also check whether the mileage and other details make sense in relation to the vehicle's age and version.
2. Review all photos carefully
Take the time to review all available photos. Look not only at the vehicle's overall condition but also at the details.
For example, check:
The bodywork, paintwork and wheels.
The interior, seats and upholstery.
The dashboard and odometer.
Any visible damage.
The engine compartment and other relevant components, where these have been photographed.
Zoom in on the photos where necessary. Are certain components not visible, or is the photo quality insufficient to assess the condition properly? Take this into account when making your decision.
3. Read the vehicle description and specific details
Read the full vehicle description and check which damage, defects and other details have been reported.
Also pay attention to any warnings or comments about the vehicle's technical or cosmetic condition.
Keep in mind that photos and descriptions do not replace a full technical inspection. Not all defects are visible or can be identified based on the available information.
4. Check the available vehicle documentation
Review which documents and additional information are available for the vehicle.
This may include maintenance information, inspection documents or other relevant vehicle details, where available.
Would you like additional information, for example about the maintenance history or damage history? Check whether this information is available or what options you have for requesting it yourself. For example, you can consult a CARFAX report in advance if you want more insight into the available vehicle history.
5. Assess the vehicle based on its age and mileage
For a used vehicle, expect its condition to be consistent with its age, mileage and usage. Normal signs of wear may be present.
Consider the relationship between:
The vehicle's age and mileage.
Its visible condition.
Reported damage and defects.
Maintenance and usage information, where available.
Keep in mind that not all technical defects can be ruled out based on photos and vehicle details alone.
6. Calculate your maximum bid
Decide in advance the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the vehicle. Take more than just the expected selling price into account.
For example, consider:
The expected trade or resale value.
Any repair and maintenance costs.
Transport costs.
Administration fees and any other additional costs.
The profit margin you want to achieve.
Please note: transport costs may be charged separately and are not automatically included in your bid amount. Always check the displayed costs before placing a bid.
7. Still have questions? Check before placing a bid
Are you unable to assess the vehicle's condition properly, or is important information missing? Try to clarify these points before placing your bid.
You can use the seller's available contact details to ask additional questions. Do not automatically assume that you can inspect the vehicle in person beforehand; check whether this is possible.
8. Only place a bid when you have sufficient information
Before submitting your bid, make sure you have reviewed the vehicle details, photos, description and costs.
Keep the following in mind:
A bid may remain valid for the specified bidding period.
A bid is not final and binding until the seller has accepted it, in accordance with the CarCollect process.
Once the seller accepts your bid, you must take into account the obligations associated with the purchase.
Are you still unsure about the vehicle's condition or costs? Do not place a bid without careful consideration. Make sure you have enough information to make an informed decision.
