How do I use the comments field when placing a bid?

When placing a bid in CarCollect, you can add a comment to your bid. This allows you to indicate what your bid is based on or which conditions or assumptions apply to you.

A clear comment can help support your bid and gives the seller additional context about the bid you have placed.

Why should I use the comments field?

The comments field is useful when you want to explain why you are offering a certain amount.

For example, you can indicate that your bid is based on:

  • The technical condition of the vehicle.

  • The absence of a damage history.

  • The information in the vehicle report.

  • The mileage and age of the vehicle.

  • The options that are present or missing.

  • Specific points of attention that you have taken into account in your calculation.

Examples of comments

You can add a short explanation such as:

"Bid based on vehicle being technically sound."

"Bid based on no damage history."

"Bid based on the stated mileage."

"Bid based on the available vehicle information and photos."

"Bid based on the condition as described in the advertisement."

Keep your comment short and clear so that the seller immediately understands what your bid is based on.

When should I use the comments field?

The comments field is particularly useful when your bid depends on certain information or assumptions.

For example, when you have assessed a vehicle based on the available photos and information, but have not been able to check certain aspects yourself.

A clear explanation can then help record the assumptions you made when placing your bid.

What should I pay attention to?

A comment added to a bid does not replace checking the available vehicle information. Therefore, always carefully review:

  • The photos.

  • The vehicle description.

  • Any inspection reports.

  • The mileage.

  • Known damage or other points of attention.

  • Other available vehicle information.

Tip: Use the comments field when you want to provide additional context for your bid. A short, specific comment such as "bid based on vehicle being technically sound" immediately makes clear which assumption you used when placing your bid.
