Is a bid binding?

Article about placing bids

Placing bids

Yes, a bid placed on CarCollect is binding.

Before confirming a bid, it is important to check the vehicle dossier in full and take any additional costs into account, such as transport costs. Once you have placed your bid, you cannot simply cancel it.

What should I check before placing a bid?

Always check:

  • The vehicle details.

  • The photos and any damage.

  • The documents.

  • The price breakdown.

  • Any transport costs.

  • Whether the vehicle meets your purchasing requirements.

A carefully considered bid helps prevent unexpected issues after the vehicle has been allocated to you.

I placed the wrong bid. What should I do?

Have you accidentally placed an incorrect bid?

Please contact the Customer Success team at CarCollect as soon as possible.

A bid can only be withdrawn if the selling party agrees to this. CarCollect can only process the withdrawal of a bid after the seller has given their approval.

Therefore, contact us as soon as possible if you have placed an incorrect bid and provide:

  • The vehicle registration number.

  • The CarCollect ID.

  • The amount you bid.

  • The reason why the bid needs to be changed or withdrawn.

When does the purchase take place?

The purchase is concluded when the seller accepts your bid and the vehicle is allocated to you through CarCollect. From that moment onwards, the further purchasing process begins.

Tip

Always determine in advance how much the vehicle is worth to you and take the following into account:

✔ The condition of the vehicle.
✔ Potential repair costs.
✔ Transport costs.
✔ Any additional costs.

You can use the Bid indication as a tool when determining your bid, but only place a bid for an amount that you are actually willing to pay.
