What should I do if the buyer reports more damage than expected?

Article about vehicle claims and damage claims

Written by Railey Vrouwe

It may happen that, after receiving a vehicle, a buyer reports that more damage is present than was indicated during the valuation and when the vehicle was offered in the vehicle dossier.

When this happens, it is important to discuss the situation with the party involved and work together towards a suitable solution.

The buyer has submitted a claim

A buyer has 48 hours after receiving the vehicle to submit a claim when there are discrepancies compared with the information in the vehicle dossier.

When handling a claim, it is important to:

  • Carefully assess the reported damage.

  • Check the information in the vehicle dossier.

  • Work together with the other party to find a suitable solution.

How can I prevent discussions about damage?

A complete and accurate vehicle presentation helps prevent claims.

Therefore, always make sure you have:

  • Clear photos of the vehicle.

  • A complete description of visible damage.

  • Correctly recorded details and other relevant information.

  • A fully completed vehicle dossier.
